First Talent Show Called “Best Experience”

On Thursday December 3, SUNY Rockland held its first annual high school and college talent show, “RCC’s Got Talent!” The show, hosted by America’s Next Great Star Production Company, was free and open to the public.  As part of RCC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, various bands, vocalists, dancers, poets, comedians, and performers from all over the county auditioned for this “red carpet” event. A 16-Year-Old Student's Research

Yudi Pardo, a home-schooled sixteen year old of Wesley Hills, is conducting research at SUNY Rockland in order to utilize photosynthetic bacteria to create solar panels. By using this type of bacteria, he hopes to create a resourceful and environmentally friendly form of solar energy. Full story

RCC Fall Sports Roundup

Men’s Soccer Team Makes Notable Come-Back The 2009 SUNY Rockland Community College Men’s Soccer team completed their season by falling (5-0) to Monroe College in the opening round of the Region XV Tournament on Oct. 24. Head Coach Loren Green, who just finished his 27th season, guided the team to 7-10 overall record after a 1-6 start. Full story

RCC is a multicultural crossroad, and serves as an example that affirmative action is no longer needed to cure racial or discriminatory differences. The program is being abused, allowing minorities to gain unnecessary advantages. “I don’t think it’s fair to compensate people who were never discriminated against,” says student Eugene Levit. Men’s Basketball Playing Strong

8-3 Record Thus Far

Not much has been said this term about the Rockland Community College Men’s basketball team, until now. In the 2008-2009 season, the Rockland Hawks set a new school record when they made it to Nationals for the first time. Head coach William Kurisko, and assistant coaches John Yannaco, and Lenny Kurisko, watched as their team made a dramatic comeback at the Region XV, Division III tournament in March of 2009. Full story
