1. I'm worried about not getting good grades.

Well who isn't? Grades are extremely important right now and they count toward developing a career path. It's not just about doing the work, but having the motivation to excel is what will set you apart from other students.

2. I am intimidated by professors.

Professors can be intimidating, but they want you to succeed. If you notice that your grades are starting to slip, set up a meeting with your professor immediately.

3. What if I don't like my classes?

Walk into a class open-minded. As a student, you may have certain classes that you need to take in order to fulfill your degree requirements. Just remember that in the end, it's all worth it.

4. I have no idea what I want to major in.

As a freshman, it is difficult to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Over time you will see what you like, what you are good at, and eventually what you want to take on as a major.

5. I don't know which extracurricular activities to partake in.

RCC offers many extra curricular activities. There are clubs to join, sports to play, and leadership positions to hold. Do not be afraid to try new things.

6. I am afraid of getting lost on campus because I don't know where anything is.

The first few days might be difficult but don't be afraid to ask for directions or for help finding a classroom.

7. I'm afraid of the fact that I'm in control of my choices.

Although you ultimately make the choices, you can always ask a faculty member or peer for advice.

8. I'm embarrassed to tell people that I'm going to a community college.

Deciding to enroll in a community college is not only a smart financial decision but may lead you toward transferring to a better four-year university. Be proud for making an intelligent, responsible decision for your future.

9. I do not know if I will fit in.

Many people worry about making new friends and struggle with how to do so, but the best way is by just being yourself.

10. I cannot manage my time well.

You must find a balance between free time and work time. Time management is a priority in this new stage in your life, so don't let procrastination get the best of you.
