Great tips of how to market your music on your own

So you're an aspiring artist and you have a finished product. What next? You can do the traditional methods of passing out of flyers, putting up posters and telling a few of your friends and family. Then you ask yourself, "Why aren't people interested in listening to my music?" The answer is simple-we do agree that everyone likes music although not everyone likes the same kind. Many like a certain style of genre but often, they are not where we want them to be. Whoa. That's a lot of negativity for your album. By this time you've probably given up. My suggestion is to remain in a positive frame of mind and believe in your product. How? The key tools to building the stepping stones for your music are imagination, motivation and determination.

Tip One: Imagination

Simply imagine your album being heard by others besides yourself. Ask yourself: Who do I want listening to my music? What can I do to attract them? When is the best time to reach them? Where are they? How can I communicate with them? Hit the libraries, they are a very good place to leave flyers and perhaps a CD review sheet, particularly at the music section. Get in contact with someone in charge and ask them if you can leave a few CDs. Set up a car wash with a free CD giveaway. Try to get non-profit organizations involved in a car wash for a fundraiser or find out when they might be doing something similar and leave some CDs with the organization. Be where your fans are. Go to the club and tell the DJ that it's your birthday and pay him 10 dollars to spin your track. Now I know what you're thinking: I am not spending any money. Trust me, this works. After the song, tell the DJ that you have a CD on sale outside the front door.

Tip Two: Motivation

Motivation is believing in yourself and your music. It's the key element in any organizational structure that determines its success. You need to be able to send out a message of yourself/band to the world. What is music without a message? It's like television without a program. It's really necessary to create a story for the media to really give you the exposure you deserve.

Tip Three: Determination

Determination is realizing that it's all or nothing. It's when no outside influence can destroy your perseverance and will to progress. If you are not determined, you might as well just sit at home on your couch and watch TV.
