Jackie Chan is in foreign territory in Disney’s “The Spy Next Door.” He abandons the usual martial arts - macho warrior image for a new breed of acting in this PG family comedy.
Bob Hoe (Chan), a retired spy, must undertake a new mission: babysit his girlfriend’s kids. But of course a babysitter like Jackie Chan can’t just wait around watching children.
Bob Hoe’s longtime enemy finds out that Bob has a secret formula. Next thing you know babysitting turns into a PG battle, as Bob tries to keep the kids safe while fighting the enemy.
“The Spy Next Door” is a kid-friendly comedy that features noteworthy actors such as Lucas Till and Billy Ray Cyrus.
At this point many of you may be rolling your eyes, but it is honestly unlike any other cheesy kids action movie. There are a multitude of fight scenes, and watching the actors punch and kick each other gets hilarious.
Naturally, it wouldn’t be a family movie if it were not predictable five minutes into the film.
The villains are laughable and the kids are cute, so “The Spy Next Door” could be a fun time at the movie theater. It’s worth seeing if you are bored or babysitting.
Oh, and if you are babysitting and have secrets that your enemies might want to steal, you should consider signing up for a martial arts class.
