“In your college applications it is
important to show that you are not only
involved in a variety of out of school
activites, but to show that you are
commited to them.”

-Dalem Arsa Artha

“In order to have a well completed
application you need to have a clear
mind, and be calm and relaxed. Take up
a relaxing hobby and try to fill them out
when you have no stress, and the pressure
isn’t on. Under these conditions you are
less likely to make minor mistakes, and
your thoughts will flow smoothly.”

-Chris Alvarado

“Before taking the time to fill out all
those tedious applications make sure you
take the time to visit the schools that you
are interested in. Try to visualize yourself
there for the next few years of your
life, whether it’s the food on campus,
or the people you will mingle with. If
you can’t picture yourself there, don’t
settle because there are so many options
available to you.”

- Lindsay Buteux

“One of the best things you can do to help
yourself out with college applications is
to start early. Procrastinating will only
deteriorate the quality of your application,
and you may even miss deadlines. Start
early, pace yourself, and you will be in
control of your applications.”

-Thomas Kormusis

“College websites always tell you what
they’re looking for in students, and what
they expect to see in their application, but
just because that is what they say doesn’t
mean that is all there is. Some of the best
resources are students that have applied
and been accepted, and even students
who have applied and been rejected.”

-Eric Laitman

“College applications are a mirror of you.
Who you are and what you are should
be reflected in your application, and
the more individuality you can bring to
your application the better your chances
are. With your application people in
admissions should be able to draw a clear
picture of your personality, and your
work ethics and skills”

-Crystal Cabrera

“One of the simplest tips for applying is
to spell your name right, and make sure
that if you do use the same essay for two
colleges you don’t send one college an
essay with another college’s name in it
because then they’ll be reading why you
really want to attend somwhere else next
semester.”

-Prijo Joseph

“Joining clubs is an easy achievement,
and staying committed is just as simple
in some events, but what have you
created to express your thoughts and
ideas in the world? Leadership in your
college application just seems to jump
off the page when it is being read in
the admissions office. It is extremely
impressive because not only did you
create a group to share your thoughts
or interests, but you managed to round
up students who also share your ideas
as well and want to spread it around the
community.”

- Tim Yohanan

“Recommendations are a very important
factor in your college application. A
recommendation is a way for those in
the admissions office to see how others
view you in a work enviroment, or an
educational enviroment. It is extremely
important to get recommendations
from professors, teachers, or coaches
who know you on more than just an
aquaintance level. Try to contact somone
who knows you well as a person, a
student, a worker, and even as a friend,
because you want your recommendation
to reflect who you are as a person in
all perspectives and make you seem
different from all the other candidates
who are applying.”

-Ali Rizvi

“In your application it is important to show
that you are a well rounded individual of
the world. Show that you are active in
not just sports, not just education, but in
different activities that would make you
appear to be a cultured individual with a
large variety of knowledge. Displaying
that you will be a well-rounded asset to a
college campus can never put you on the
wrong track when applying.”
