"Predators" is a new and possibly "definitive" sequel to the late 80's, early 90's series. A mercenary, three soldiers, a Cartel enforcer, an FBI's most wanted, and a doctor, are dropped into a mysterious jungle.

Once united, they find they've all been taken somehow and planted at their location, which they eventually discover is a completely different planet. The reason: they are participating in a game of survival against the title aliens, who are supposed "masters" of hunting many alien species, especially humans.

The story is straightforward and simple, which isn't a bad thing. The script's loaded with F-bombs and predictable dialogue and it's easy to figure out which characters will die.

In fact, the story knows its B-movie value—with its dramatic stock music playing in certain scenes without buildup, almost impossible (and implausible) moments, and scenes that look and feel a little cheap.

So "Predators" isn't the sci-fi hit of the summer, but it's not downright terrible. It's made for established fans, and while it banks on gaining new followers, its own target audience may be satisfied as well."Predators" is just like its budget—modest.
