Men’s Soccer Team Makes Notable Come-Back

The 2009 SUNY Rockland Community College Men’s Soccer team completed their season by falling (5-0) to Monroe College in the opening round of the Region XV Tournament on Oct. 24. Head Coach Loren Green, who just finished his 27th season, guided the team to 7-10 overall record after a 1-6 start.

Dennis Kcira was selected to the All-Mid Hudson Conference First Team. The sophomore finished with nine goals, which placed him in a third place tie in the final Region XV scoring statistics.

The Clarkstown North graduate was an Honorable Mention selection to the All-Region XV team, and was also named Mid Hudson Conference “Player-of-the-Week” for the week of Oct. 12.

Diego Ramocan was selected to the All-Mid Hudson Conference Second Team. Ramocan, a sophomore from Queens garnered Honorable Mention status on the All-Region XV team. He also won the sportsmanship award from Region XV.

Eduardo Maldonado was chosen to the All-Mid Hudson Conference First Team. Maldonado is a sophomore defender who graduated from Nyack High School. Michael Barbetto and Robert Wyatt earned All-Mid Hudson Conference Second Team honors. Barbetto, who netted two goals this year, is a sophomore midfielder from Clarkstown North. Wyatt is from Northern Virginia and scored five goals this season.


Volleyball Head Coach Pursues New Goals After Season Loss

The 2009 SUNY Rockland Community College Women’s Volleyball team struggled through a tough season. The 2009 edition of the Lady Hawks lacked experience simply because Head Coach Stacy Corsale saw five starters graduate from last season’s squad, which advanced to the Region XV Tournament. Corsale left the program at the end of the season to pursue a teaching and coaching career in New Jersey.

Lauren Linzenberg was selected to the All-Mid Hudson Conference Second Team. A sophomore from Suffern High School, Linzenberg led the team in digs as an outside hitter.

Women’s Tennis Team Taking Steps Forward

The 2009 SUNY Rockland Community College Women’s Tennis team improved on last year’s foundation. The team managed a 1-3 overall record under the direction of Head Coach Kevin Rapelye.

The Lady Hawks defeated Dutchess, 9-0, on Oct. 6. Allison Garner and Kristie DeJesus reached the semi-final round of their respective flights at the Region XV Tournament on Oct. 23-24 at SUNY Orange. Garner teamed up with Kim Garcia and reached the semi-finals in first flight doubles competition. Meanwhile DeJesus paired up with Jamila Grampus and won their quarter-final doubles match.
